Each year, we journey to Japan to personally handpick authentic products, including omamori protection amulets from sacred temples, timeless artifacts, and delicate ceramics. Our dedication to sustainability is reflected in our offerings of organic teas, healing books, and sustainable slow fashion, all designed to nurture both the body and the soul.
At Japanese Flea Market, we are deeply committed to giving back to the underprivileged and sharing the Japanese philosophy of ikigai—finding joy and purpose in life. Sashiko (刺し子 little stabs) is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. Because of the philosophy behind the technique, in particular the Japanese idea of 勿体無い (mottanai) that emphasises the importance of not wasting anything, it is enjoying a resurgence all over the world.

Nen (念) means the mind in the present. The 念 kanji is composed of two parts. The top part 今 (ima) means ‘now’ and the bottom part 心 (kokoro) refers to the ‘heart/mind’. It is a beautiful combination of characters that allude to the state of the Mind in the Present.

Our tea selections are sourced locally in Western Australia, and both tea pouches and loose leaves are available.
